The Story
About the artists
Nicole Fyfe and David Fou
Somewhere June is the original music project of partners Nicole Fyfe and David Fou. Named after the month they were both born, the project grew naturally from a shared love of songwriting, storytelling and creating music together.
Nicole's love of songwriting began in childhood, spending years developing her craft through acoustic songs built around voice and guitar. David, a self-taught multi-instrumentalist with a natural ear for music, developed his musicianship through guitar before expanding to a range of other instruments. When the pair met while Nicole was recording her debut EP in 2024, their musical connection was immediate. David featured on selected tracks, and what began as a studio collaboration quickly evolved into a creative partnership.
Bringing together Nicole's foundation in songwriting and David's instinctive musicianship, Somewhere June has become a space where ideas are shared, challenged and shaped together. While some songs draw from personal experiences, many are inspired by the people, relationships and everyday moments they observe around them. Their aim is to tell stories that feel honest and relatable, inviting listeners to find a little of themselves in every song.
Since forming Somewhere June, Nicole and David have performed across Wellington in both acoustic and full-band formats, including appearances at the NZ Festival of the Arts, CubaDupa, Punch Over Lunch, and as support for Danica Bryant at Undercurrent. With a growing catalogue of original music and new releases in development, Somewhere June continues to evolve through a shared passion for storytelling, collaboration and creating music that connects with people.
